DESCRIPTION:<p>Join us Sunday, March 30th at 2pm for the fifth film in the Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers. This free screening will feature the documentary "This World is Not My Own", followed by a panel discussion with Cathi Perry and Cheryl Mashack (great-granddaughters of Nellie Mae Rowe and Board Members of the Judith Alexander Foundation), Raymond Pickens (local artist), and Rob Waler-Bunda (local artist), moderated by the Peabody Film Festival Founder Brent Zaffino-Lambert. Special thanks to the Fox Theatre for their partnership in bringing this program to the Canton Theatre.</p><p>The Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers is a program of South Arts. This screening is supported in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.</p><p>Chewing-gum sculptures, a wealthy gallerist, a firebrand wrestler, a notorious murder case and the segregated south – it’s all part of Nellie Mae Rowe’s boundless universe.&nbsp;<em>This World is Not My Own</em>&nbsp;reimagines this self-taught artist’s world and her life spanning the 20th century.&nbsp;With Uzo Aduba as the animated version of Nellie Mae Rowe.</p><p></p>
